summer's ending!

Today was my first day back at work..just for a training from "Handwriting Without Tears" It was very interesting and I can't wait to use it in our classroom this year. I missed my girl but my mom sent me two pictures of her so that made my day! I am ready to get our classroom ready and meet our new kiddos!

Since last blog we have tried pears, bananas, carrots, and green beans. We are NOT a fan of carrots, when I say NOT I really mean it, as in Annie Carlyle wouldn't even swallow them and would gag herself, I kept having to scoop them out of her mouth...kinda  reminded me of my sister on corn growing up! We LOVE pears and bananas the best right now. I thought carrots would be a good vegetable to introduce first because the jar said sweet carrots, I thought I would try sweet carrots then green beans. Oh well. I think she tolerates the beans, we've tried them once, and will eat them again tonight.
There is a family here that has really taken Annie Carlyle and me into their precious family and have done SO SO much for the both of us. They have a daughter in Mississippi that is my age, that made AC some PRECIOUS monogrammed bibs and shirt... I will take pictures and put them on here.
Annie Carlyle is now a woman on a mission! She goes exactly where she wants to now, even after we turn her and move her, she'll turn around and crawl exactly back to where she wants to be.
Last night we took the pack-n-play and put it up and took her baby bath tub out of the regular bath tub.
The pack and play was a crutch for me. Several nights a week I would put Annie Carlyle in her crib, but when she would wake up to eat I would just put her in the pack and play, easiest for me for the next time she wakes up :) I decided she's such an independent baby that it doesn't matter to her where she sleeps so I need to take advantage of that and put her in the crib, so last night I did it! I fed her and changed her diaper in her room and put her back in her crib. Izzy thanks me for this, she has her bed/bedroom back and baby free!
We took the babytub out because we were nearly drowning at every bath...she would sit up and try to splash and would fall forward, well the water would be waist deep on her when she sat straight up, so now I just put a little bit of water in the tub and she LOVES it, she can crawl around, move around and be ok.. I just need to get some of those grippie things for the bottom so she doesn't slide.
Matthew and I have truly been blessed with such an easy baby, as I type this blog, she is sitting in the floor playing with her toys, she is very good about entertaining herself for the most part.
this weekend we went to Boiling Springs, NC, the town where I graduated college from, Two of my friends bought a new house there so we went up for a weekend to visit. Annie Carlyle did EXCELLENT on the way there,  (on the way home she screamed for over an hour! but I now know that you should rub crinkled paper on the canopy of the carseat and it will soothe the baby!) didn't even have to stop for her! She did great there too, didn't sleep very much, but was her usual charming self. We took her to the YMCA pool and she sat in the water and used the swings. My friend CJ, might as well be a professional photographer, took some excellent pictures for me. I am so thankful for this because Thursday before we went there, I went to SEARS to have some simple pictures done for her 6 months that were affordable so that I could share with others. TOTAL DISASTER. the photographer literally waited for the perfect picture before he would snap. Annie Carlyle got pissed because she was having to sit there and be away from me. I got pissed because the "photographer"/employee kept trying to put cheesy props and then when I told him what I wanted to buy he told me I still had to hear his packages. Anyways, THANKS CJ FOR THE BEAUTIFUL PICTURES!
I hope this blog wasn't too scatterbrained for ya!
here are a few pictures for those that don't have facebook--

weekend recap

Nothing too exciting has gone on with us this weekend.
Annie Carlyle now chooses to sit up when she plays, she's really into beating things such as her toys on the floor, cups in her highchair or to hit the wipe box.

This weekend we introduced stage 2 babyfood apple sauce to Annie Carlyle, she seemed to really like it until I added some cereal to it, she got MAD with me.
I know this seems late to be introducing babyfood to her for the first time at six months, but I have read that exclusively breasfeeding for the first six months is most beneficial to the baby, so I stuck to just breastmilk, except the first 3 months I gave her one formula bottle at bed time. She has also gotten cereal a couple times a week, mixed in with her milk.

Monday we went back to the doctor to have her ear rechecked. The doctor said it was in fact infected, but had been draining and was looking better. We were to stop the ear drops but to continue the amoxicilin twice a day..

Annie Carlyle has really started needing me. She clearly prefers me to others, though anyone can make her smile. This makes me a happy momma but has started to worry me considering school is about to start back up and my mom isn't going to be able to keep her for two weeks.
part of my randomness
whoever thought sleep training should be done around 4-6 months probably didn't actually have a child. this is in conflict with teething. doesn't work.
Antibiotics make baby's pee STINK STINK STINK! it just blows my mind, I can't believe it!
Matthew has been home today sick, although he isn't feeling better he says he is going back to work tomorrow because he will get sicker staying cooped up in the house another day..
I had my meeting at Coker to determine when I will student teach.. good news and bad news
goodnews is I will finish classes April 28th 2012 and student teach the next fall!
Bad news is my car won't be paid off until January after student teaching, and the slim possibility of getting a job in January after student teaching... although I call this bad news, I know without a doubt in my heart that this is my calling,  I believe wholeheartedly that this is my place to be, and because I am answering the call God will guide me and take care of my family just as He has said.
Last thing-- if you're watching Animal Hoarders and you think you recognize the family, it's probably Matthew and Me! Two kittens "walked up " to matthew while he was outside rounding up our one cat (outside cat but comes in at dark, so coyotes won't eat my laststanding cat!) I immediately tell him to get those cats out of this house and we CANNOT have another animal. Matthew says they need to stay inside in the dog crate in case they belong to someone--- i've already sent a text to all the neighbors, picture included, no one is claiming them. In the meantime I notice how skinny they are so I fix them a bowl of milk. The next morning the kittens are placed outside, and do not  and as of right now have not left our yard. They are cute cats but as of right now we have Duke and Sandy, our two goldens, Izzy our Shih-tzu, and Sissy our cat. We also still have 7 puppies, and now apparently 2 kittens.
love you all!

First "Sick baby" Visit

I'll start with a recap of our weekend. We didn't do very much, which was nice for a change. Saturday mom, AC, and I went to florence for some frames and things for the house while Matthew played golf. Pop Pop surprised us with his rocking chair he had as a baby repainted pink for Annie Carlyle!
While she was sitting in it dad told me I should make her a cushion, I told him I thought the weaving was enough, his response was "pop pop just wants the best for Annie Carlyle!" soo cute...although I don't recall him ever telling mom he "just" wanted the best for Alex and me.

for those that know me well know that I jump from topic to topic, so here I go... I am a lazy typer I don't do spell check, I rarely capitalize anything other than I and I sometimes don't use punctuation.... if it hurts you to read all my typos I am sorry! you can talk to Alex about them, as I KNOW it drives her crazy!

Sunday we didn't make it to church because I spent half the night cuddling with the toilet on the bathroom floor and the other half I was feeding a baby. We ended up at the lake late afternoon with Matthew's sister, Bridget, and our nieces. Annie Carlyle LOVES the water, she hung out in her float in the lake till she got tired and then Sydney took her up for a nap.
Sunday night I finished summer school-- no school or work until August 15! I've also decided with my new freedom that Annie Carlyle is now at the age where it will be sad to go back to work and school, but I love my job and know that it is my responsibility to complete school, so back I will go.

Monday-- we spent the first half of the day at the doctor's off for our first sick baby visit, we made it almost 6 months! I thnk that is GREAT considering she was born in the middle of flu season. I called the doctor this morning and told them her symptoms, her ear was not draining and she was continuing to pull/scratch/rub her left ear. She appeared to be just fine but that was bothering me. I took her in and the left ear is blocked with wax too far down for the pediatrician to tell if it is infected and to get it out, so we're treating her with Floxin Otic ear drops twice a day and Amoxicilin by mouth twice a day. We go back next week to see if the wax has cleared up, if not we may be at an ENT dr. Although her ear is blocked/infected she continues to be her sweet/silly self.
I know how to post pictures on the blog but not on the page so here are a few recent ones of my girl!
My favorite picture of her from the beach
new pink rocking chair that's over 60 years old!

she cut two teeth and thinks she is grown now, she crawls to anything she thinks she can climb up and tries, usually resulting in falling

first timeblogging!

I have decided to follow one of my best friends Erin and start a blog, mostly because my sweet Annie Carlyle has recently started doing so many new things. I thought  I could post about them on here instead of on facebook.
Annie Carlyle will be 6 months old in 11 days!! time is flying by so fast!
Last Sunday we had her baptized and we also joined the church. We finally feel like we're at home with a chrch! Sunday morning Annie Carlyle started cawling like only two steps, and by Monday night she was a girl on a mission! Last night she figured out how to pull up on her car seat and bouncy seat.
She has also cut two teeth, the front two bottom teeth and she's loving biting.... which is funny because my 4 year old niece, doesn't mind it at all, she's constantly sticking her finger in her mouth to feel her teeth, and annie carlyle will bite down (I know this is germy, but we're not in daycare and a few germs are good for her!)
We are so blessed to have such a perfect baby girl. Her personality has started showing, like last night at 12:15 I told her to close her eyes and go to sleep...she laughed at me!

a funny story to leave you with....
my niece Mandy (the 4 year old) saw a box of tshirs in my car, she asked me why I had them there I told her I was giving them to Sydney (11 year old niece), she needed to know why, I said they were too little for me but that I thought Sydney could now wear them...her response............
I didn't know grown-ups outgrew their clothes!

We are excited we have NO PLANS this weekend.
